Sports Massage
To a Sportsperson a regular Massage can mean the difference between winning and or losing. It can give you the edge over other competitors. Whether your sport is a competitive one, or simply for pleasure having a Massage after you’ve played or competed will enhance your recovery time. It will aid your body back to peak physical condition ready for the next game or competition.
Exercise as we know does wonders for our body. However, it also places physiological stress on our body, the more intensity the workout, the more stress on the body. Often our bodies may be strained, putting stress on our joints or leaving a build-up of fluid in the tissue around our muscles, or even leaving a “micro-tear “in the muscle, potentially causing “Knotted Muscles”.
“Lactic-Acid” (the accumulation of the metabolic wastes in the tissues around the muscle) is another common result from exercise.
Massage can reduce “Knotted Muscles” and “Lactic Acid” by using various Massage techniques including Effleurage, (long, sweeping rhythmical strokes), Petrissage (deep kneading) Percussion, Compression, Deep Tissue, Cross Fibre stroking etc. Massage also aids in the body’s recovery time after exercise.
Using the above techniques will increase blood-flow which will in turn increase blood circulation around the body, loosen muscle fibres, increasing the muscles flexibility and restoring the muscle to its full capacity for use.
